History of KTS
Our achievements

Graduates
Years of political and religious freedom in Ukraine have provided opportunities for the Gospel to be shared, and many spiritually hungry people have come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Today Christians need spiritual nourishment, discipleship and training. Unfortunately, after 70 years without formal theological education, the church in Ukraine lacks a sufficient number of trained pastors and church leaders.
-
in 1995
Kyiv Theological Seminary was founded in 1995 through the direction of the All-Ukrainian Union of Associations of Evangelical Christians-Baptists and the vision of KTS charter president, Anatoly Prokopchuk. Their aim, together with other key supporters, was to establish an institution that would provide a strong theological education. KTS began in an old, run-down building with no doors, windows, or heat. But the hand of God was clearly seen in His provision and in tripling the number of applicants expected.
-
in 1996
Classes began in February 1996 with a curriculum parallel to a Masters of Theology, Th.M.
-
in 2000
In the early 2000s the curriculum was modified to meet Western educational standards at Bachelor level, with the same commitment to high academic and ministerial standards. In the late 2000s, KTS began adding Master's level programs, also striving to match Western educational standards.
-
in 2006
In 2006 Talbot School of Theology (Biola University, USA) opened its extension at KTS, which implements a master's program accredited by the Association of Theological Schools to train ministers for Ukraine and other countries.

From the founding of KTS to the present day, the Lord has blessed us with a library of over 40,000 volumes of Christian literature. The library gives teachers and students the opportunity to use these vast resources to study the Scriptures and develop new ways of serving the church and society in a relevant way.
Since its founding, KTS has graduated 1228 students from various programs. Hundreds of other Christians have also been trained at the seminary. KTS graduates serve throughout Ukraine and the former Soviet Union as pastors, deacons, teachers, youth workers, church planters, chaplains and missionaries. Because of the academic standards of KTS programs, students are able to continue their education at accredited theological institutions in Europe and the U.S. Some graduates have continued to serve the seminary as teachers and administrators. Through their studies at KTS, the Lord has called many to church planting. Thus, Kyiv Theological Seminary continues its commitment to provide evangelical Christians with an education that offers biblical answers to contemporary challenges.
